The Intelligent Mail Barcode section contains the values that the organization will use to create their Intelligent Mail barcodes for mailings generated by Utility Bill Print and Utility Delinquent Processing. Using Intelligent Mail barcodes allows the organization to receive a discount from the postal service on their mass mailings.
Note: Note: A special font must be installed for the Intelligent Mail barcodes to print properly for recognition by the postal service's equipment. This font is not included in our standard installation. Download the font athttps://ribbs.usps.gov/onecodesolution/download.cfm
The values defined below are static values used at the beginning of the barcode; together, they form the tracking code. Consequently, if one value is defined, the other two are required.
- TheBarcode Identifier determines the level of presorting that will be done. It contains two characters. The standard value is 00; see https://ribbs.usps.gov/index.cfm?page=intelligentmail for exceptions.
- TheService Type Identifiercontains three characters. It identifies the mail class and any requested services (e.g., 700 for First-Class Mail, 702 for Standard Mail).
- TheMailer Identifiercontains either six or nine characters. This is a unique value provided by the postal service to identify your organization.
